Eugen Taru


Eugen Taru (1913 – 1991) was a Romanian graphic artist, best known for his work in the political cartoon, caricature, comic strip and book illustration genres. Taru primarily associated with satirical magazines such as Urzica.

Recognized early on for his controversial involvement with the communist propaganda apparatus, he later focused on his work for children, and became an important visual artists employed by  Ion Creangă publishing house.

Eugen Taru, alongside Livia Rusz, Iacob Desideriu, Vasile Olac, Done Stan and Val Munteanu, is one of the  most memorable Romanian children illustrators.

Nicolae Sirbu


Nicolae Sirbu (born May 14, 1943, Morunglav, Olt County) is a Romanian painter and illustrator. Nicolae Sirbu is well known for his graphic artwork, which has received many national and international awards. His style  is unique with themes that are quite varied. His art works is very popular, becoming a valued part of collections all over the world.

Silviu Baias



Silviu Baias  is a Romanian painter and graphician. He was born in 1939.
Studies: The Academy of Art Nicolae Grigorescu, Bucharest, Romania (1959). Has studied with: Eugen Popa. Together with  Ethel Lukats Baias is a great promoter of  Romanian engraving in Japan and all over the world.

Ethel Lucaci Baias



Ethel Lukats-Băiaş, born on October 18, 1936, Covasna is a Romanian artist famous for her woodcuts and illustrations for children.

She graduated from the Grigorescu Institute of Fine Arts, Bucharest in 1959. While there she  studied with Vasile Kazar, Rudolf Schweitzer Cumpana, Samuel Mutzner. She is a member of The Union of the Visual Artists from Romania. Her works can be seen in The Museum of Art, in Constanta, Romania.
