Octavia Taralunga


Octavia Taralunga was born on 8 June 1930 in Vaidei, Hunedoara county.

In 1955 graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts "Nicolae Grigorescu" - the class of Jules Perahim professor. In 1955 she was awarded a distinction at the International Festival of Youth and Students in Warsaw for her work: „M-am făcut băiat mare” by Nicuta Tanase. Starting with 1970 she is a member of the Artists Union.



She has constant exhibitions in the country and abroad with paintings, graphic works, lithographs, book illustrations etc. Her graphic works were exhibited in Poland, India, Germany, Republic of Modova, Italy.
From 1964 she worked for the Didactic and Pedagogic Publishing House where she contributed to the development of numerous textbooks over 20 years of work.

Octavia Taralunga has illustrated over 180 children's books, auxilliary works in foreign languages, filmstrips and didactic boards.

In 1999 exhibits her works together with those of her friend and colleague, Adriana Mihailescu.

She has frequently published articles in professional journals, was present in numerous radio and television programs, in cultural and artistic events with the participation of children in libraries and schools.
