Angi Petrescu Tiparescu

Angela Petrescu-Tipărescu was born on the 23th of April in Baia de Aramă. She graduated from The Academy of Fine Arts, in Bucharest (1945). She expanded her decorative manner beyond the illustrated books, working decorative arts, tapestries, furnishings and objects. She has exhibited in Warsaw (1955), Prague (1962), Bucharest (1963), Rome (1965).
In may opinion she is the brightest woman illustrator among the Romanian stars of this beautiful craft and the most prolific.

Angi Petrescu Tiparescu - The Stoneman-Omul de Piatra

What a fine Romanian illustrator! Her illustrations are so elegant and exuberant. There is a continuous movement in them, colors and textures dancing forever on the sound of  contemporary music, oblivious of time.   I was very pleased to see that she is known also abroad. Puss in boots and The Stoneman are her most famous works there. I have read a blog recently, where the author thought her to be a kind of Russian prince, based on her name. Well I doubt the author knows much Russian, but at least it knew her name and treasured Perrault's tale based on her illustrations. And that is something!
